Life in a tin can/ a kick in the head sessions:




Now granted the above picture is not exactly the one from either of these albums; nonetheless, it serves the purpose of this post. The goal that I have in mind is to consider the songs which would form the basis of these two albums from 1972-1973.  

let us take note of the tracks in question-- album no 1 (their 12th) life in a tin can which had the following songs:

A 1 SAW A NEW MORNING
A 2 I DON’T WANNA BE THE ONE
A 3 SOUTH DAKOTA MORNING
A 4 LIVING IN CHICAGO

B 1 WHILE I PLAY
B 2 MY LIFE HAS BEEN A SONG
B 3 COME HOME JOHNNY BRIDE
B 4 METHOD TO MY MADNESS

Album no. 2 (their 13th) a kick in the head which had the following songs: 

A 1 ELISA
A 2 WOULDN’T I BE SOMEONE
A 3 A LONELY VIOLIN
A 4 LOSERS AND LOVERS
A 5 HOME AGAIN RIVERS

B 1 HARRY’S GATE
B 2 ROCKY L A
B 3 CASTLES IN THE AIR
B 4 WHERE IS YOUR SISTER
B 5 IT DOESN’T MATTER MUCH TO ME

In my opinion each and every song in these list are absolutely fantastic. And this also includes the songs which are not in the list but can be found else where-- they are the following ones: King and country; life am I wasting my time, Jesus in heaven and Dear Mr Kissinger.

Brilliant from Birth compilation

 Brilliant from Birth:  Released in 1998, this is a compilation album which covers the Australian days, from 1963-66 which contains songs from their first two albums "sing and play"  and "spicks and specks"  these albums contain 26 songs; 14 on the first and 12 on the later. However,  the thing that makes this compilation stand out is that contains another 12 songs which were meant to be their 3rd Australian album but was put aside because they seeked to try their best to crack the international scene; and cracked it they most certainly did.  Now the most important point that this collection of songs provides us is the rear in sight into seeing group develop both as singers which would be more profound in years to come; but here we see the seed being planted.
