Bee gees Album: Robin's Reign
I know that this is technically Robin's first solo album away from the group. But I consider it to be an album of the group as he is one of the group. Here it is:
This is an extra-ordinary album, because what we have is a rare glimpse into the mind of a genius, as you listen to each song there is something of what can be portal into a future expression of music (it was born before its time-- as others have stated) And I agree with such sentiments. The thing that stands out the most is that this was written by a man of 20 years of age; and yet it sounds like it was written by someone more seasoned in life (perhaps 50). And this is all the more exciting that He had been writing song only 6 years.
Now obviously the main track known from this album is 'Saved by the Bell' which is one the most moving songs ever written by man, in my opinion. And it shows just the force this would have been if things were a little more friendly towards its release-- and perhaps the band could have remained together; and still released sol efforts at the same time. But history cannot be fixed only really learned from in order to never let thing turn out that way again.
Other songs that are worth mentioning on this collection are as follows:
(1) Gone Gone Gone (simply because seems inspired by unchanged melody) but still a nice song with a roarer vocal.
(2) Give me a smile ( with it almost hymn quality music and interesting lyrics) a very nice song indeed.
(3) Mother and Jack (a clear bee gees vibe with a country twang) rather nice to hear this.
(4) Farmer Ferdinand Hudson (this is something that very Robin Gibb; and yet not like much else-- with very unique music)
