Bee gees Album: Odessa (Part 1)

 Odessa:



The sixth studio album, both nationally (Australian) and internationally (the rest of the world) from these brilliant brothers; and if there was one album that demonstrated and showcase their music versatility it would be this one. Whilst it may be truth that later in their career that the Brother unanimousnessly spoke of this album as their least favourite possible due to the fracture between the brothers that took place related to it-- nonetheless, it stands out as a special album. 

Now let us note that there is no stand-out track as they all are special in their right and simply deserve that merit and mention:

It should be noted that this album also contains a rare but not lost treat: several songs are clearly writing by one brother each such as Odessa; Lamplight and Black diamond by Robin alone. And Marley Purt Drive; Never say never again and First of May being written by Barry alone. And the three instrumentals possible Maurice alone.  (this would not be seen until the last studio album). But the rest of the track show that all three had equal input.

  Two Years On:                        This is the Bee Gees 9th studio album (7th international) released in November 1970. And it marked the reunion of the brothers as a band; yet, to some degree it marked the end of the first outing of them doing solo efforts. And this can be witnessed in the fact that there are more tracks which seem to be best understood as a conclusion to that period of time in the brother' careers. Just think of the title track which, to me, seems to be something of balance between both the solo and band work. I ask you to forgive me that I am not considering to show stand out tracks from the album, though all tracks on the album are really good songs. I do not wish to point out favourites at this time. The album as a whole is not a favourite.

Bee gees Singles:

 I've Gotta get a message to you (July 68): I started a Joke (Dec 68): The Album to which these song are taken from or associated with was released in-between these two songs.  Now let us take note of these two songs,  both are Robin Gibb numbers-- at least in terms of the original ideas and so forth.  The first one was Robin; Barry; Robin lead in that fashion with the verses; and all three singing the choruses. The story being told, as I have said in another post, is about the final message from an inmate to his beloved before his death.  The second one is solely a Robin Gibb song with a  powerful vocal in the chorus and the outro part. But the thing we need to note is how the verses build up to a souring chorus.  Enough said. Please listen to these songs in order to hear what is missing in todays music.

Bee Gees Album: Trafalgar

Trafalgar: This marks the 10th Bee Gees Album-- and although some put the true point of their union in terms of a concrete spiritual bond between the brothers that had fractured further down the line;  but I truly see this album as the time of the bonds being healed. And this can be seen in each and every song on the album; but particularly songs such as Lion in Winter; Don't wanna live inside myself and Somebody stop the music (each displaying one brother on lead vocals; yet still each shows the strength of their individual writing style). It can be seen in not just the songs-- but likewise in the depths of  the bond as it is expressed in the different songs.  There are several interesting songs to be mentioned here: (1) Remembering (2) Greatest man in the world (3) Trafalgar This album also has a very important message not just in the songs as we have noted; it still can be seen in the pictures.
