Bee gees Singles 68
The Singer sang his song:
This is one of those rare kind of songs where you have an early Robin Gibb preferred structure-- but more than this, we have an interesting view being expressed in terms of the subject with a positive/negative themes in the verses. It depicts how a singer goes from being valued to be ignored; you know in some way, this could be taken as picture of the bee gees career. And very interesting thought- the highs and lows.
However, we have an indirect love theme being expressed behind the main theme of a singer rise and fall from the spot light. And this is seen in the line "the song that the singer sung was for her." This is something which shines through many of songs the brothers wrote at this point; and one that would surface in the third studio album "Idea" (something we will consider soon). And in fact, it is there in their first studio Album.
One thing that must be noticed at this point is that this song has some interesting links to other Robin Gibb songs; and that is this: it contain a elongated instrumental with wordless vocal accompanying it. think for a moment in the Summer of his years (track form Idea '68') Odessa and lamplight (tracks from Odessa '69'). Perhaps this is an interesting insight into Genius of the Gibb Brothers; and in particular Robin' writing abilities.
But Singer sang his Song stands as a vital additions to this trio.
