Bee Gees singles:
Massachusetts:
And Barker of the UFO:
Now this is the 3rd released single by these talented brothers; and it is a special case as it was there first international number one. While it is true that there is a great tale attached to it as it went no.1 twice-- or at least they were told it had before it had actually done so. But that is not really important in the long run.
What we have here is a lead song with the vocals of Robin Gibb (and Barry on a few lines as a support if you will); and then you have a lead by Barry Gibb on the a-side. These songs could not any more different than the fact that one is a slow ballad with a wonderful message about someone being urged to come home and give up a wild lifestyle (flower-power). But the latter one is a strange but fun little song with a very hard to follow story.
Another example of their ability to tell stories in a musical style is "sir Geoffrey saved the world." But unlike Massachusetts; and very much like the Barker this one is not easy to know the point-- still it has a feel good theme.
And these two main ones are important additions to the power-house Gibb brother song-writing.
